Art is in making everything false and appear true.
Art is about making everything true and appear false.
“realism is the impossible”.
The video narrates DOMʼs site-specific live performance in Milan with Antonio Moresco in the role of ‘the walking manʼ.
A figure, shadowy and elusive, strolls through the city. Through his journey, the landscape opens up and hides from the eyes of the audience, which follows him at a distance, as if spying on him, poised between identification and detachment. The spaces follow one another as in an uninterrupted sequence plan – a square, a station, a cave, a shopping centre, a public swimming pool, a dump, a funfair, a swamp. Starting from Jiro Taniguchiʼs graphic novel, DOM- constructs a dramaturgy of spaces in which the border between centre and periphery, between urban and third landscape, between human and non-human explodes: as it delves ever deeper into the tangle of the city, the living experience of walking becomes the pretext for a hand-to-hand encounter with reality.
