KaraOCHE [composed of kara – short for karaoke – and geese, the animals] is a theatrical performance staging an improbable karaoke animated by a goose, a lobster, a roast turkey and a swan keeper.
The experience mixes the atmosphere of a karaoke bar with surreal elements, creating a fantasy space suspended between reality and fiction, where animal stories, human tragedies and existential questions are intertwined. It all shines under the glittering lights of the theatre, amidst songs and dances on the borderline between the sensational and the catastrophic.
KaraOCHE was born from a suggestion: to explore the boundary between those who perform and those who observe, between fiction and reality, between virtuosity and resentment, between human and non-human identities.
In KaraOCHE, irony is used as an instrument of rupture and pop language as a vehicle for complexity. Karaoke – an accessible, collective form of expression, often relegated to the margins of ‘high’ culture – is transformed into a performative device of criticism and ‘spoken word’. Karaoke thus becomes a space of symbolic overthrow, in which non-authorised voices, eccentric subjectivities, disguised and marginalised, find legitimacy and space to speak out.
