Autunno Danza

XXIV Edition
11 October – 9 December 2018

Starting with the body, the threshold of our inhabiting the world, Autunno Danza, in its 24th edition, explores the various meanings of this presence. There are many facets to existence, infinite and indefinite differences between possibilities and destinies, marked by where and when life begins, by the countless variables of chance. However, each body maintains traits in common with all the others: vulnerability, limitedness, fragility, the need for mirroring in the gaze of others, the ambition to launch a recognisable projection of self.creation in dance is able to express the dynamic quality of the body that acts in the present by showing the past, becomes a vision, screams the precariousness of being, the effort to keep itself in balance, the urgency to modify unusual spaces in ways that are always astonishing. Single bodies, bodies in pairs, bodies engaged in meeting in multiple trajectories, bodies similar and different, immobile and frenetic, stable in precariousness. Lines of writing from which contrasting but always true readings arise, as true and necessary is the right of every body to be alive and worthy. Today, it seems essential to reaffirm that the affirmation of the body conveys political value and subversive power in the liberation processes of everyday life and art. The programme includes national premieres, emerging proposals, internationally renowned authors, educational and performance projects for children. In dialogue with the multiplicity of contemporary languages, the Autunno Danza programme takes place over two months, together with a rich proposal of workshops, the founding nucleus of future projects.
