National Premiere
Produced by Fuorimargine
Atto Zero stems from a desire to examine the role and methods of transmission of classical dance in the training of contemporary dancers. The work seeks a space in which the repertoire can be rewritten, explored and reinterpreted by any body. Some well-known variations from the ballet become verbal scores composed of images and metaphors, or meticulous descriptions of anatomical movements – a form of writing that replaces the technical code and opens up new possibilities for movement. It is precisely within this linguistic shift that the exploration takes shape. The gesture, freed from its canonical form, becomes living matter that is constantly open to interpretation.
