Cristina Kristal Rizzo’s‘Sleeping Dances‘ are writings that emerge from the cold sleep of consciousness. Summoned indifferently by a musical graft, an architectural detail, a playful accessory, they push the spectator towards a question about the authenticity of one’s own emotional processes. ULTRAS sleeping dances is a system of dances with simple and linear body themes, supported by a melodic playlist with melancholic tones and a series of playful objects, conceived as habitats that unfold each time in an unrepeatable and unique environment shared with the audience, these dances expose themselves without any particular technical apparatus, to an intimate collective vision as a generative hypothesis for a life in common.

In a kind of new dance theatre or subtly cinematic time-image, ULTRAS sleeping dances enter into dialogue with the space that contains it as an energetic surplus, so much so that it appears as a playful activity where mastery is not simply a physical skill but is also a grace, a political exposure of bodies to the forces of life. We are thrown into existence, they seem to say, we are inside that existence where we encounter what life itself contains: weeping as well as laughter, comedy as well as tragedy.

Acting in a time means considering it as a void in which everything is made present through a reciprocal interpenetration between things, in which the gaze is a thin membrane that traces a passage between the intimate and the ultra.

The coda in the title – sleeping dances -, simply wants to indicate this alternative of resistance given to everyone to enchant oneself on the threshold between an inside and an outside, to loosen one’s gaze, to contemplate the close-up of a face, the detail of a tear, the particular figure of things, the artifice of a dream and to inhabit the sensation.
